General
What is Chup? +
Chup is a family app that brings structure to your household. You divide chores, keep a shared calendar, manage shopping lists and wish lists, and let children send secure messages to approved contacts. Children use their own kiosk screen, parents keep an overview via the app or browser. With Chup Compleet you also get recipe importing, a weekly menu and linking your own calendar.
What age is Chup suitable for? +
Chup works for every family with children. Thanks to icons and a clear kiosk screen, even young children who can't read yet can use the app independently. Older children just use the app alongside them.
Kiosk and devices
On which devices does Chup work? +
How does the kiosk screen work? +
The kiosk screen is a fullscreen view especially for children. Use a tablet, touchscreen or PC in the kitchen, hallway or living room, open Chup and activate kiosk mode. Children log in with their own PIN and see their chores, calendar and rewards.
Can I use multiple kiosk screens? +
Yes. You get unlimited kiosk screens from the lowest plan onwards. Set up a screen in the kitchen, hallway or living room, or in several places at once.
Safety and privacy
How safe are my child's messages? +
Children can only send messages to contacts approved by parents. Parents can read along in all conversations. There are no algorithms, no adverts and no unknown contacts.
I don't want my children to be able to send messages, is that possible? +
Yes, that's not a problem. Sending messages is completely optional. You consciously link contacts to your child yourself, and only then can your child send messages. If you don't do this, that function simply stays inactive. Your child won't see it either.
What happens to our data? +
Your data is stored on secure servers within the EU. We don't sell data, use tracking or show adverts. Read our full privacy policy for all the details.
Does Chup comply with the GDPR? +
Yes. Chup processes data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You have the right to access, rectify and erase your data.
Features
How does the points system work? +
Parents set a point value per task. When a child completes a task and a parent approves it, the points are credited. Rewards are optional: add them if you like, or simply let children save up points. They can always see their balance on the kiosk screen.
Can I use Chup with separated parents? +
Yes. With the 'Connect families' feature, you link two households together. This way you share the calendar, addresses and birthdays. Each family keeps its own control over what they share.
How do wish lists work? +
Children add wishes to their wish list via the kiosk screen. Parents share the list via a unique link with family and friends. They can claim gifts so that no duplicate gifts are given.
Is Chup suitable for children with sensory sensitivity? +
Yes. The kiosk screen is designed with calmness as the starting point: calm colours, high contrast, big buttons and minimal distraction. Chup meets WCAG 2.2 Level AA and is based on W3C Cognitive Accessibility principles.
Chup Compleet
What extra do you get with Chup Complete? +
Chup Compleet includes everything from Basis plus: importing recipes from websites, YouTube, TikTok and Instagram, taking photos of recipes from cookbooks, a weekly planner with meal planning and managing stock to see which recipes you can make with what you already have at home. Children also choose from extra themes in their kiosk: sea, forest and space, each with its own island. All future modules are automatically added to Compleet.
What is Chup Lifetime? +
Chup Lifetime is a one-off payment of €249 that gives you lifetime access to Chup Compleet. All future updates and new modules are included, with no monthly or yearly costs. You'll have earned it back within 25 months. View the details on our pricing page.
Subscription and prices
Why isn't Chup free? +
Chup was built by a small family from the Netherlands. We want to keep it as accessible as possible, but running an app costs money: app stores, servers, data storage and AI for importing recipes. We deliberately chose against a freemium model, because we don't want to bombard you with adverts or frustrate you with limitations. We'd rather charge a fair price for a complete app. Tired of subscription fatigue? Then check out our Lifetime option: a one-off payment, and you'll have earned it back within 25 months.
Can I try Chup for free? +
Yes. You can try Chup free for 14 days with all features. You don't need to enter any payment details beforehand. After the trial period, you can upgrade to Basis or Compleet to keep using everything.
What's the difference between Basic and Complete? +
Chup Basis includes all core features: dividing chores, points, family calendar, wish lists, shopping lists, linking families, secure messaging, adding recipes manually and your own kiosk world with three building spots and two animals. Chup Compleet adds recipe importing (from websites, YouTube, TikTok and Instagram), cookbook photo, weekly planner, managing stock, extra kiosk themes (sea, forest and space), all building spots and unlimited animals in the kiosk world to that. View all options on our pricing page.
Can I cancel at any time? +
Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time. You keep access until the end of your billing period. After that, your account switches to read-only mode: you can still view everything but can no longer make changes. All your data stays saved.
